FAQs
When should I involve an engineer in my house preject?
Ideally as early as possible. If you involve us at concept stage, we can help you and your architect or contractor avoid costly changes later by making sure the proposed design is structurally sound and practical to build.
Do you work directly with homeowners, or only through architects and contractors?
Both. Some clients come to us though their architects or builders and some contact us directly. We’re happy to join the team at any stage. The earlier the better for your budget and programme.
Can you help if I'm worried about cracks or movement in my house?
Yes. We can inspect visible issues, assess the likely cause and recommend practical next steps. Where needed, we can also provide formal reports for insurers or body corporates.
Can you review an existing design for value engineering?
Yes. We can perform an independent review of existing structural designs to identify potential savings, simplifications or constructibility improvements, always without compromising.
Do you work in my area?
Our head office is located in Ballito, KZN and we perform a majority of our work within the KZN area. However, we do have resources across the country to provide services nationally. Projects outside of KZN are reviewed on a case-case basis.
How are fees structured for residential work?
We generally work on fixed-fee appointment, based on the project scope and requirements. The fixed-fee ensures that the client will be provided a complete service from concept to handover. Additional special requests will be handled on a rate bases, which we stipulate in the contract T&Cs.
