OUR MISSION & ETHOS
We treat our responsibility as professional engineers with the respect it deserves. That means we don’t compromise on quality or on our ethical responsibilities under the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) Code of Conduct.
At the same time, we aim to make the process as practical, cost effective and as simple as possible. We insist that our clients understand all options available to them, along with the benefits and downsides of each, so that they feel part of the project process and can make educated and confident decisions on how they would like to proceed.
OUR HISTORY
Bellcon was established in 2019 to offer structural engineering design and project management services across a variety of construction projects.
Since 2019, Bellcon started small, taking on the design and engineering management of client’s high-spec homes within various Northern KZN residential estates. Bellcon’s work portfolio slowly grew, with two staff members joining the company in 2022, which allowed the company to start accepting projects nationally. The company also embarked on new commercial and industrial projects, while also taking up a key role within the insurance sector. We have also secured positions as in-house engineering consultants to various corporate clients, allowing continuous and steady company growth.
Today, Bellcon combines big project experience with the accessibility of a small, dedicated team.
MEET ASHLEY
FOUNDER, CEO & PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER
Ashley Bellato is the driving force behind Bellcon. Born and raised in Durban, once he completed Matric, he completed his BSc. Civil Engineering, with Honours, from the University of Cape Town, before beginning his career in the industry.
Ashley began his career as a construction manager for Group Five Civils, working on large projects with budgets of hundreds of millions of rands. He thereafter moved over to the consulting firm AECOM, where he took up the role of site project manager and resident engineer for clients such as Coca-Cola, PRASA, Mercedes, Heineken, Shell, among others. Some of these project budgets were over R1 Billion. This career history helps ensure design practicality and cost-effectiveness are always considered when undertaking a project.
Ashley has always enjoyed solving challenging problems which others might shy away from and confidently boasts that he can solve a rubik’s cube in under a minute!
Outside of work, Ashley enjoys music, sport and spending time with his family. A daily reminder that the structures we design ultimately exist for people and are not just drawings and numbers.
